NGC PF 65 CAMEO.
その他、現存が認められたものは、「Hans M. F. Schulman」New York (1966/11/10-12), No.480、「Spink 5」(1979/5/17), No.231=当該コイン、「Numismatica Genevensis」(2014/11/8 & 24), No.447より。現存3〜4枚

NGC PF 65 CAMEO. Pattern realised in Paris (E) by Barre, (PROOF) with cameo aspect. Incredible quality, in its mint condition and the mint velvet almost intact. Of the greatest rarity. Mint State.
Pattern produced personally by the general engraver Albert Barre on his presses installed at the Monnaie de Paris. According to his handwritten correspondence, preserved in the archives of the Monnaie de Paris (Service des Archives Économiques et Financières, S.6-11, 96), Albert Barre requested authorization on 13th March to strike 5 trials of 20-drachma coins (2 coins for his personal medallion, 2 others for the Greek government, 1 for the Monetary Museum of the Monnaie de Paris); then, on 8th April 1869, he asked to strike 2 new trials (without known addressee). The copy made by Barre for the Monnaie de Paris is kept in their collections. Moreover, the only examples seen seem to be one sold by Hans M. F. Schulman, New York, 10-12 November 1966, no. 480; our copy = Spink 5, 17th May 1979, no. 231 and Numismatica Genevensis 8, 24th November 2014, no. 447. Possibly three, possibly four, known examples.
13th March 1869
Letter from Albert Barre to the President of the Mint Commission.
"Mr. President. I have the honour to ask you for permission to strike under my pendulums five proofs of each of the three gold coins whose engraving I have just completed on behalf of the Hellenic government. Two series of these coins would remain in my medallion shop, the other three would be destined for the Greek government and the collections of the Monetary Museum. All these coins, minted at my expense, would bear the inscription pattern. Please, etc.". (Service des Archives Économiques et Financières, S.6-11, 96).

Please, etc.". (Service des Archives Économiques et Financières, S.6-11, 96).
